In Spain, attending the FIP congress, as any other pharmaceutical congress (organised by an official pharmacy organisation at national or international level) is considered a continuing professional development or “continuing education” (CPD) activity.
Recertification process and points
The Pharmacist Continuous Recertification System (RCF) of the Spanish Pharmacy Representative Bodies evaluates the last 6 years of the pharmacists (non-specialists[1]). Pharmacists will be able to contribute all their achievements during the last 6 years to the RCF application, which will then be evaluated by the evaluation committee of the College of Pharmacists in which the pharmacist is a member.
For this congress, pharmacists who wish to apply for the RCF must provide a certificate (signed by the organising body, in this case FIP) stating that they have attended the congress and the training conferences, with the duration of the same (if it exceeds 15 hours, 1 point will be awarded and if it is between 2 and 15 hours, 0.5 points will be awarded). In addition, 1 point will be awarded for oral communication in FIP Congress, and 0,8 points for poster presentation therein. Finally, 1 point will also be allocated for participating in the scientific committee of the Congress.
For oral communications, participation in the scientific committee or poster presentation, the pharmacist must submit a certificate issued by the organising body stating that he/she has given an oral communication, presented a poster, or been a member of the scientific committee of the congress.
If these certificates were submitted in an RCF application in the past 6 years, they will qualify for scoring. Therefore, if the activity has been carried out within the last 6 years and it is submitted as a merit, it will not qualify for scoring.
