This plenary will explore global action on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) through a prevention-focused and people-centred lens, aligned with the 2025 UN NCD declaration. It will highlight the growing burden of NCDs in the context of ageing populations, multimorbidity, and health inequities, and position pharmacy as a key enabler of equitable access to safe, effective, and affordable care within universal health coverage (UHC) and primary health care systems. The session will also emphasise the role of vaccination, self-care, and nutrition in addressing underlying risk factors, including inflammation and lifestyle determinants—showcasing how pharmacists can support prevention, early intervention, and improved health outcomes across the life course.
