Organised by the FIP Military and Emergency Pharmacy Section Chair(s) Mrs Jane Dawson, New Zealand Defence Forces, New Zealand & Ms Nita Sood, (retired) US Public Health Service, USA Introduction: This session highlights the strategic role of pharmacists—both military and civilian—in advancing global health security through leadership, policy development, and integrated health system planning. Military pharmacists operate in high-stakes, complex environments, managing medical countermeasures, deployment formularies, and coordinated responses during crises. Their experiences provide unique insights that can inform civilian pharmacy practice, particularly in emergency preparedness, disaster response, and public health system strengthening. The audience will gain knowledge on how leadership strategies, policy frameworks, and cross-sector collaboration used in military settings can be applied to enhance civilian healthcare resilience, ensure equitable access to medicines, and safeguard patient safety during public health emergencies.
