Organised by the FIP Education in collaboration with the FIP Academic Institutional Members and the FIP Academic Pharmacy Section Chair(s) Dr Andrea Murphy, Dalhousie University, Canada & Dr Mike Rouse, Member FIP Academic Pharmacy Section, USA Introduction: Increasing anthropogenic climate change and natural hazards challenges educators as more emotional and psychological supports requires for team members and students. Traditional andragogy approaches often prioritise content delivery over connection, reflection, and well-being. The session explores the psychological foundations of coaching including humanistic psychology (empathy, authenticity), positive psychology (strengths and resilience), and Self-Determination Theory (autonomy, competence, relatedness) and shows how these concepts translate into classroom behaviours. It also introduces the GROW coaching model as a practical structure to help educators support student development and reflective learning. It aligns with FIP’s vision for professional sustainability and well-being, promoting both educator self-awareness and learner-cantered education, as well as with FIP Competency Framework in Pharmacy Education.
